  1. Look at the equilibrium cooling path from A-B in Figure 10.10.1. Answer the following questions:

    • Is this a hypereutectoid steel or hypoeutectoid steel? Why? Can you think of anything somewhat ambiguous about the definition of "hyper" and "hypo"?
    • Is this a pure invariant reaction or not? Why?
    • What is the proeutectoid (or primary) phase, in this reaction?
    • Which phase has the largest phase fraction at Point A and Point B, respectively?
