Introduction - Mathematical Skillsets Required for this Course

There are no specific mathematics prerequisites for MAT_SCI 201 or 301. However, success in this course does require the ability to employ basic algebra, vector manipulations, trigonometry, and calculus.

No advanced mathematics (differential equations, linear algebra, etc.) is required, although we do show some and discuss some physical laws (Fick's Laws) which are expressed as ordinary or partial differential equations. While we don't ask students to solve these differential equations, you do need to know what the mathematical expressions say.
